A Love Affair

The sun is shining, flowers are at their prime, love is in the air… it is wedding season, Ladies! Invitations start pouring in and the only thing more important than wondering who is going to accompany you is, obviously, what are you going to wear?! A wedding is the ultimate party, but there are some things to keep in mind when planning your outfit for your friend or family’s big day. Here are some tips to keep you looking glam, yet appropriate.

A general rule of thumb for all weddings is no white or black! White is reserved for the bride, even if she decides not to wear it, and black is considered too somber for the festive occasion.

If white and black are your usual go to’s, think of this as an excuse to step out of the box a bit. Navy and tans are still available for dark and neutral colors. Bright colors are always welcome at weddings, and can outwardly express your happiness towards the future nuptial.

Day or Morning Wedding

Mini Leaf Dangle Earrings, $16 / Gathered Dress with Cutout by Aryn H., $86

Available at Jupe Boutique and soon at JupeBoutique.com

We created this look for the day or morning wedding. Day weddings typically call for a dress above or at the knee. Make sure your dress is not too short! Ruching and interesting cuts, like the dress above, are a nice way to make the dress more interesting, but not push it overboard. You do not want your outfit to be too flashy. Stay clear of sparkles or large jewels on dresses. Add a rocking pair of earrings or a bracelet if you’re dying to add pizzazz.

Evening Wedding

Casablanca Kisslock Clutch by Urban Expressions, $46

Available at Jupe Boutique and soon at JupeBoutique.com

Night weddings are usually more dressy, so choose a cocktail dress or a long dress. Here we chose a long dress with ruching and an open back. We added a vintage bead belt, earrings, and a clutch. Clutches are a good way to keep your look glam and carry necessities such as make up, your camera, and your phone.

Dress up your outfits with accessories! They are the perfect way to stand out, but not outshine the bride.

Garden Wedding

Two Tone Lace Midi Skirt by Gracia, $86 /

Flippy V Back Dress by Blaque Label, $98 / Lace Jacket, $58 /

Rectangle Disc Necklace, $24 /Leaf Chain Bead Dangle, $22

Available at Jupe Boutique and soon at JupeBoutique.com

Garden weddings are a little more casual, but should still be dressed nicely for. Be creative! If dresses aren’t your thing, go for a pants suit or a skirt and shirt combination. Switch up your look with a long skirt and top, like we did above, or a bright dress with a neutral jacket. If the event is particularly religious, remember to dress appropriately. Wear a shawl or jacket to cover up.

Ethnicize Yourself!

I remember when M.I.A hit the scene with Paper Planes, and aside from loving that song, i also couldn’t get enough of her style. It was almost as if  a 90′s hip hop diva from Sri Lanka had transported herself to the modern age. Her play with bold color, and amazing use of ethnic and geometric prints and jewlery gave here a household name. And yes, ethnic inspired dress hit the scene long before M.I.A, but i think i’d like to give her due cred for the latest craze in ethnic inspired design. Adorn yourself  this summer with a plethora of jewels and bangles and draped geometry and color and ethnic inspiration!

See me here getting ethnicized below with our beaded turquoise necklace along with our beaded dangle earrings, and pyramid stud bracelet!

SUMMER INSPIRATION FROM BLOGGER

It’s easy to fall into a fashion slump in the summer. Sometimes we just throw on shorts and a tank top, pull up our hair and go. If your finding yourself in this predicament take a hint from fashion blogger Jules at sincerelyjules.com. Use her as your fashion inspiration to get that effortless summer feel without the usual shorts and tank. We put together a few items that can be found at Jupe Boutique which will help you achieve this look:

Nicole Richie is known for her love of maxi dresses and being a hot mom in them. We think she would approve of this maxi dress in the middle from Jupe.

Stripes Galore

A familiar vice to many females is that stripes are intimidating. They often appear to widen our figures and can just be simply unflattering. We’ve managed to overcome the seemingly impossible standard for stripes with a few of our pieces and some examples of a person who, we think, knows how to rock this look.
